BIG NEWS!

Merry Christmas to our Sojourn and Sage Community!

We have exciting news to share with you all. Just this month we received our 501(c)3 tax-exempt status as a religious non-profit! We are grateful for the team of people who have made this possible as we seek to lay a solid foundation for this ministry in the future. In light of this wonderful news during this Christmas season, we invite you to prayerfully consider a founding gift to the ministry of Sojourn and Sage.

This December we are hoping to raise $25,000. Additionally, we are hoping to establish regular ministry partners who can help us reach our support goal of $4,000 a month. This year your donations go directly to the support of the Hope House residency program. Click on the GIVE tab above to donate today!

Last January Anjuli and I had our first conversation about this dream we would end up calling “The Hope House.” Now, here we are eleven months later, with eight residents in a remodeled home, living in a spiritual community together. The outpouring of support, prayers, donations, and time to make this possible in less than a year is really beyond what we could have asked for or imagined. We are nearly three months into the launch of the first of, Lord willing, other ministries to come and we are watching as the young adults who make up the Hope House are entering deeply and redemptively into their own stories, each other’s stories, and the story of Jesus Christ.

There are countless transformational moments we have had the privilege of witnessing. In his breathtaking book, Life Together, Dietrich Bonhoeffer says, “Christian community is… a gift of God which we cannot claim.” As witnesses of God’s work we can only rejoice and be glad in this gift we cannot claim. In our modern culture we drift further and further from one another into disembodied digital spaces, tribal enclaves, or into the echo chamber of our own self-imposed exile from one another. The Hope House is a deeply counter-cultural work, in which our family and the residents together share relational, physical, and spiritual space together. We are watching a confessional community form around open and honest sharing, prayerful and attentive listening, and Spirit-formed and Christ-centered love. Christ is calling our residents up and out of their isolation and into the good and beautiful communion he establishes with one another in his presence.

Whether you’d like to make a one-time gift this December, or become a ministry partner we’d love to meet with you and share our vision for Sojourn and Sage and how you can help us continue to bring this dream to fulfillment.
